Key responsibilities of the Smart Buildings Program Specialist, GS-0301-13, position entail:
o Overseeing the implementation of new building technologies; including Building Automation Systems (BAS) used in the construction, modernization, and reprogramming of existing systems throughout the region to ensure compliance with the national program goals and changing information technology.o Preparing case studies on existing BAS and building systems for future use through the systematic collection and aggregation of building system information.o Providing expert advice and recommendations to design and construction engineering teams.o Providing critical analysis of pressing issues and required policy recommendations used by management to formulate decisions regarding changing responsibilities or business needs, as well as in the design/development and evaluation of ongoing and /or new program issues.o Maintaining program integrity through continuous monitoring.o Collaborating with colleagues to best align program objectives with nationally administered programs.o Monitoring monthly region-wide and individual building energy usage to ensure usage reduction goals are on target with program objectives, and providing critical recommendations to minimize energy usage and associated costs. Your salary is dependent on the duty location for which you are selected. To qualify, you must demonstrate at least one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level of the federal service. Specialized experience is technical experience in the development, installation, application, analysis, technical support and use of building analytic programs, Building Automation Systems (BAS) and advanced metering systems. Applicants must have experience in translating building analytic programs, BAS and advanced meter system data and protocols into project specific strategies and implementation including design, installation, commissioning, training and ongoing use to maximize benefits. This experience must also include addressing issues and providing solutions to senior management regarding such systems and programs.
