Budget Officer

This position serves as the Budget Officer for the District of New Jersey and is responsible for the formulation, presentation, and execution phases of the districts' short and long-range budget. Typical assignments include:
-Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets goals and priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. -Assign work to subordinates based on difficulty of assignments and staff capabilities. -Develop and maintain an integrated financial planning and reporting system that involves both long-range program plans and the annual budget as a key segment of those plans. -Develop financial policies to facilitate achievement of the U.S Attorney's goals and objectives. -Form an effective basis for budget formulation and justification. -Manage the certification of obligations for the District. -Provide a wide variety of financial and budget-related support activities for the District such as devising and maintaining an obligation reporting system that ensures costs are captured at the time commitments are made. -Provide technical guidance, advice, and assistance to the Administrative Officer and the U.S Attorney in the identification of future resource requirements, and in the planning and development of future budget requirements. GS-13:
Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service applying policies, precedents, regulations, concepts and processes to manage the budget process including formulating and executing the budget. Examples of specialized experience include overseeing financial management operations, preparing estimates, budgets and operating plans, conducting financial audits, providing advice and guidance on budget and financial activities, tracking funds, and developing financial and budgetary reports. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
