Application Developer

This is our direct client opening for a Application Developer - Newark, NJ. This is a 8+ month long term contract position and hourly rate is DOE. The client would like to see local candidates only.
This position will be responsible to:
Design, develop and deploy applications and systems that will support the energy trading operations, including Front, Mid and BackOffice functions.
Lead certain projects in all its aspects of project life-cycle; i.e., requirements gathering and analysis, scheduling, design, coding, test plans and production implementation documentation. Hands-on involvement is expected throughout.
Follow comprehensive application and system development methodology in order to provide efficient and consistent coding deliverables and documentation to meet the needs of this fast-paced environment.
Work closely with end users to determine business requirements and user testing/acceptance.
Provide support/direction to other contractors involved in development of applications.
Implement Sarbanes-Oxley/regulatory requirements.
Adhere to IT Change Management process.
Support in-house applications, as deemed necessary.
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree or six years professional experience
Minimum five years experience using Visual Basic 6, C#, WPF/Silverlight, ASP, ASP.NET, XML, XSLT in a team environment
Minimum 1 year knowledge of financial derivatives and/or risk management principles
Strong interpersonal skills, strong project leadership skills
Broad technical background including work on applications and systems supporting trading operations
Very strong analytical and problem solving skills
Must be a team player
Strong experience with relational databases (Oracle) and PL/SQL programming, Analytics
Experience in Web services and designing XML based applications using SOAP
Strong experience using third party components such as Infragistics, consuming/implementing webservices.
Desired Skills:
Masters Degree in Computer Science
Experience with distributed processing using MSMQ, DCOM, CORBA, or other middleware, JAVA , COM, COM+, Rational Rose
Knowledge of the electric system operations (generation scheduling, dispatch and control)
Knowledge of energy trading, front- middle- and back-office trading systems & interfaces

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
