Compliance Associate

Responsibilities

Supports the Compliance, Privacy and Ethics Manager with regard to privacy, compliance and ethics issues and responsibilities. Assists on activities related to maintenance of, and adherence to University Hospital's policies and procedures covering privacy and access to protected health information (PHI) in compliance with federal and state laws and health system privacy practices. Helps ensure that University Hospital is in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to Corporate Compliance and HIPAA Privacy. Assists with periodic risk assessments and ongoing monitoring of key elements of the compliance, privacy, and ethics programs. Assists with facilitating completion and review of State Ethics Program forms, provides support and assistance regarding compliance program operations and initiatives. The incumbent will also monitor the Compliance Helpline and participate in the investigations process, compliance and information privacy education and assist with other special projects as needed.


Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required and two (2) or more years of relevant healthcare, compliance or privacy experience preferred. Knowledge of current healthcare laws and regulations preferred. Additional related experience, preferably in healthcare or compliance, may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Excel) is required. Ability to assist in the preparation of work plans and reports with strong attention to detail. Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficiently to express thoughts and ideas to a variety of people. Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment required. CHC or CHPC certification from the Health Care Compliance Association, or a CIPM from the International Association of Privacy Professionals or willing to attain within one year of hire required.


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
