This is a full-time on-site role as a Lead Dispatcher . The Lead Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating and managing the dispatch operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods, communicating with drivers and customers, and resolving any issues or delays that may arise (Knowledge of NY/NJ port/dispactching experience required).


Responsibilities:


  • Receive orders from customers and sales personnel by phone and e-mail.
  • Process customer orders in Profit Tools dispatch software.
  • Confirm port, rail, and customer work order information have the same information.
  • Contact customers immediately if there are any discrepancies.
  • Confirm all information at port and rails are updated to pick-up or receive import/ export containers.
  • Verify all export boards on Profit Tools are updated with the most recent first receiving date, cut-off date, last free date, empty container pick-up/return depot, etc.
  • Communicate with customers to ensure proper pre-alerts and documentation.
  • Advise customers of additional accessorial charges, i.e. chassis splits, detention time, etc.
  • Update customers of any ongoing issues, questions, etc. that may arise during the course of delivery/pick-up.
  • Demonstrate an emphasis on customer satisfaction per company policy.
  • Confirm all rates are correct.
  • Monitor emails and respond to customers in a timely manner.
  • Bring energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to the job.
  • Maintain proper attendance and punctuality critical to the operation.
  • Maintain correct inventory of the warehouse.
  • Coordinate loading and unloading with the warehouse personnel.
  • Supervise loading and unloading.
  • Work with customers and carriers for appointments and proper paperwork.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by management.


Experience:


  • 4 years of experience - ports NY/NJ
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 4 plus years of experience in the transportation & warehousing industry helpful.
  • 2 years of CSR import/export experience helpful.
  • Intermodal experience very helpful.
  • Profit Tools dispatch software experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DOT standards is helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented and works collaboratively to achieve team goals.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
