Summary:
This role offers strategic, tactical, and practical support to Chief Administrative Officer.
The position promotes and executes transformational actions at every level of NJ TRANSIT to develop, manage, or otherwise meaningfully advance the aims of executive leadership.
Deployed to support a variety of key projects, and programs across NJ TRANSIT, becoming an expert in any associated policy and processes, distilling and communicating essential data and lessons learned at the executive level, and advising on opportunities to optimize existing practices or maximize future efforts in a given area.
Roles and
Responsibilities:
Manages execution of projects initiated and sponsored by the CAO from conception to completion, developing workflows, creating reporting documents and presentations, fostering cross-functional collaboration, ensuring timely delivery, and effectively communicating results to stakeholders, employees, and executives.
Collaborates closely with Chief Administrative Officer to direct and align strategic initiatives, emphasizing institutional priorities and advancing key efforts.
Supports the CAO in essential meetings by leading discussions, guiding collaboration, and advancing agenda items.
Supports CAO initiatives, ensuring that they align with NJ TRANSIT's vision and objectives.
Provides insights to the CAO, aiding in decision-making and long-term planning.
Facilitates coordination between departments under the CAO and across NJ TRANSIT, playing an instrumental role in the development, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of programs including Human Resources, Office of Civil Rights and Diversity, Information Technology and Procurement to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Conducts comprehensive research to foster institutional consistency in CAO's endeavors by analyzing data, benchmarking industry best practices, documenting current processes, and recommending actionable insights to shape organizational policy and drive initiatives.
Promotes robust communication among internal stakeholders, acting as a liaison for new policies and procedures, ensuring the adoption of initiatives, and monitoring feedback for continuous improvement.
Fosters strong relationships across the agency and leads collaborative projects, building strong relationships between teams and executives to ensure cross-functional alignment and understanding.
Oversees essential operational coordination, including agenda development, resource allocation, and calendar management in alignment with priorities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and
Qualifications:
Four-year degree from an accredited University in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
One (1) year of related work experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
Minimum three (3) years' experience in project coordination, research, or related areas.
Experience in Human Resources, Information Technology, Procurement, Civil Rights & Diversity, and/or public transportation strongly preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, including memorandum and presentation development.
Strong organization and documentation skills, including document control and ability to self-audit, required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a wide variety of individuals required.
Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team required.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills with the ability to lead initiatives and make informed decisions.
Proficiency in engaging with various stakeholders and ensuring effective collaboration.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to obtain, interpret, and use data to inform decision-making.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
