Summary:
This position teaches a class of high school students (9th-11th grade) in Fundamentals of Physical Sciences (FPS) - Chemistry and/or Fundamentals of Physical Science (FPS) - Physics.
Fundamentals of Physical Science is a five-week program designed to prepare post 9th-11th grade students for college-level work while they are still in high school.
The teacher delivers inquiry-based, product-oriented instruction that will enhance students' knowledge, understanding and application of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) content/concepts.
The teacher incorporates study skills, thinking skills, problem solving strategies and communication skills into the curriculum and instruction throughout the program.
Depending on qualifications, this position can teach one section of FPS Chemistry, one section of FPS Physics OR both sections (FPS-Physics AND FPS-Chemistry) in-person, each day for 18 days (Monday - Thursday), starting on Wednesday, July 5th and ending on Thursday August 3rd.
Each section is 2 hours long.
Lunch is provided each day and teachers do not have supervisory responsibilities during lunch.
Hourly compensation is determined upon hire but is not less than $40.
00/hour.
Essential Functions:
- Must be available to work in person June 2023-August 2023- Must be able to work remotely for planning/preparation May 2023 - June 2023 for a maximum of 15 hours- Create an environment of respect and rapport through positive interactions with students and promoting positive interactions between students.
- Establish a culture for learning by emphasizing the importance of learning, having high expectations for all learners and cultivating an environment where students take pride in their work.
- Effectively manage classroom procedures such as instructional groupings, transitions from one activity to another, preparation/distribution/collection of materials and supplies, and daily routines.
- Manage student behavior by setting and clearly communicating expectations, monitoring student behavior and responding to inappropriate behavior immediately.
- Communicate effectively with students and teaching assistants about expectations, directions and explanations of content.
- Effectively use questioning and discussion techniques to engage students in learning and solicit evidence of understanding.
- Design engaging activities that are implemented with structure and appropriate pacing.
- Utilize effective strategies to determine student starting points, set clear criteria for assessment, monitor student learning and determine learning outcomes.
- Show professionalism through thoughtful planning of instruction, preparation of classroom and materials prior to class, maintaining a safe and orderly classroom, communicating with CPCP Staff, ethical decision-making, developing healthy and appropriate relationships with staff and students, documenting student progress and contributing to the overall success of the CPCP summer programs.

Qualifications:
- NJ Teacher certification (elementary, middle or high school) or NJIT faculty member with training and experience in the content area- Background in teaching Chemistry and/or Physics at the high school level is preferred- Background check- Possesses good leadership abilities and communication skills- Experienced in hands-on activities and cooperative learning and teaching- Familiar with various assessment techniques including student portfolios and rubrics- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be waived where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the positionFLSA:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
