APPEALS OFFICER WHAT DOES AN APPEALS OFFICER DO? As an IRS Appeals Officer, you'll conduct Appeals conferences to settle cases in which taxpayers have appealed IRS determinations on their tax case or filed a petition in U.S. Tax Court. In this position, you'll negotiate case resolutions between the IRS and the taxpayer.
