We are currently looking for a Auditor General to join our team! ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develops and implements a comprehensive annual audit plan for NJ TRANSIT based on risk and exposure analyses covering key areas, including but not limited to, Capital Programs, Procurement, MIS and Finance.
Represents Internal Audit during executive management meetings with representatives of outside agencies and members of the Executive Management Team.
Meets quarterly with the Board of Directors' Audit Committee to report on the status of audits and address questions or concerns raised by committee members consistent with the Audit Committee's statutory authority.
Attends Board of Directors Meetings, reviews action items before the Board, and advises business units of potential audit issues.
Establishes policies for auditing activity and directs its technical and administrative functions by identifying the audit scopes, objectives, risks and concerns.
Meets annually with NJ TRANSIT business units to develop the Fiscal Year Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment.
Authorizes the publication of audit reports on the results of audit examinations including recommendations for effective and efficient use of resources, compliance with critical federal and state regulations and promotes company growth.
Monitors and appraises the adequacy of the action taken by operating management to correct reported deficient conditions, accepting adequate corrective action, continuing reviews with appropriate management personnel considered to be inadequate.
Interacts with external agencies to ensure that NJ TRANSIT responds to audit related information requests from federal or state agencies, including but not limited to, the NJ State Auditor and Inspectors General, in a timely and efficiently manner.
Directs audits of capital programs, procurement, real estate, and private carriers and contractors for NJ TRANSIT to ensure that leases and contracts are audited timely and to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Conducts special consultant type operational and financial examinations at the request of the Board of Directors, President and CEO and/or Senior Vice Presidents.
Directs ongoing audits of performance of the EDP functions ensuring appropriate utilization and end-user satisfaction.
Retains and directs professional services contracts to conduct audits, risk assessments, independent oversight monitoring, or other professional services required by law, regulations, rule, or executive order; or as directed by the President and CEO or Audit Committee.
Investigates fraud, waste, and abuse affecting the agency and makes appropriate referrals for further action.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related area and ten (10) years audit/management experience with approximately seven (7) years at the supervisory level.
CPA, CIA and/or post graduate degree desirable.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
